Four words that decide what you really pay
Every quote you see is built from the same four numbers. Know these and the rest of the page gets a lot less scary.
- Premium
- The monthly bill to keep the plan active, whether or not you see a doctor that month.
- Deductible
- What you pay for covered care each year before the plan starts sharing the cost. Many preventive visits skip it entirely.
- Copay & coinsurance
- Your share after the deductible: a flat fee per visit (copay) or a percentage of the bill (coinsurance).
- Out-of-pocket maximum
- The ceiling. Once your deductible, copays, and coinsurance reach it, the plan pays 100% of covered care for the rest of the year.
Bronze to Platinum is a trade, not a ranking
Affordable Care Act plans are sorted by how they split the cost of covered care on average. A higher tier costs more each month and less when you use care. Same core benefits on every tier.
- Bronze60%
- Silver70%
- Gold80%
- Platinum90%
Plan's average share of covered costs. You cover the rest through deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.
Percentages are the average share of covered costs the plan is designed to pay, as set by federal rules. Your actual costs depend on the care you use.

Straight answers
Is BoCover a government website?
No. BoCover is a private company. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency or HealthCare.gov, and it does not enroll anyone in a health plan.
Is it free?
Yes. Completely free. There is no cost to use BoCover and no obligation to purchase anything.
Do I have to sign up for text messages?
No. Both text-message boxes on the form are optional and unchecked. Leave them blank and you can still get your quote by email.
When can I start a new plan?
Open Enrollment runs each fall, starting November 1, with end dates that vary by state. Outside that window, a life event such as losing other coverage, moving, getting married, or having a baby usually opens a 60-day Special Enrollment Period.
What happens to my information?
BoCover uses it to prepare and send your quote and to answer your questions. Your mobile number and SMS opt-in data are never sold or shared for marketing. See the Privacy Policy.
Can a plan turn me down for a health condition?
Not an ACA-compliant individual or family plan. Those plans cannot deny coverage or charge more because of a pre-existing condition.
